Eric Elfven (1921 - 2008) was a Swedish Modernist artist working in painting and sculpture. He began painting in 1944 while training at Konstfack art school. Sound Woman in a Hat is one of this earliest paintings. His works are known for their vibrant use of color and layered pattern details, depicting the influences of Matisse, Picasso, and Cezanne.
